Air Pollution

Air pollution has been an increasing issue since the 1970s. Air quality started to worsen during the 1900's as the industrial revolution had created many factories that would just release toxins and harmful gasses such as greenhouse gasses (CO2, Methane, etc.) in the air. The worsening of air quality has raised issues in respiratory diseases. The term 'smog' was first introduced when tiny magnetic particles from air pollution have for the first time been discovered to be lodged in human brains in the beginning of the 20th century. Well what do we do about this now?

Words from the CEO

Hi my name is JoonYoung Cha, the current CEO and founder of the CAFA (clean air for all) foundation. Founded on 2018 May, CAFA looks to improve global air quality while decreasing the rate of respiratory diseases. We look to make the future a better place for our children and for the future generation. Inspired by the smog free towers, we tried to develop air purifiers that would work in the public.

We had the same goal of improving public air quality, which is different from normal air purifiers which all have the purpose of improving air quality inside home environments. This made me ask myself : If the air quality was better outside than it is now, would anyone be needing an air purifier at home? No.

The answer was simple as that, but  I knew this project was not going to be a simple one. To make a product, an air purifier specifically, for the general public, you would have to consider what would make the public buy it and if it would actually work effectively. Therefore, when our team of physicians and chemists worked together for this, we always had this questions to ourselves in mind :  How can air purifiers be made to make it the most effective and affordable?
